At least 3 police officers seriously injured by al shabaab in Garissa

Reports say that at least 3 police officers of Hamey Police post in Garissa were seriously injured by suspected  Al-Shabaab militants who attacked the post  on Tuesday,July 10 , in the morning.

The incident has been confirmed by Garissa police boss David Kerina who has said that the attackers overran the officers and made away with a police car, guns and several rounds of ammunition.
They also destroyed communication masts in the area leaving locals with no network.
Reports say that the police post was raided from different corners and there was  a heavy exchange between the attackers and the Kenyan police officers.
Investigations are ongoing and nobody has been arrested so far.
The Somalia-based militants have in the recent past staged attacks targeting security officials in areas around the Kenya-Somalia border.
6 police officers were Tuesday evening,(July 3 )injured when a vehicle they were traveling in was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Masalani area, Garissa County.
Witnesses and police said the land cruiser belonging to Administration police in Ijara was attacked by people believed to be Al-Shabaab between Handaro and Sangailu while escorting a bulldozer to Sangailu AP camp in Holugho Division.
The police’s  land cruiser ran over the IED leading to a blast and injuries.
It was badly damaged.  The driver of the vehicle was in critical condition . The 6 officers were moved to Ijara for medical attention enroute to Masalani sub county hospital.
It is suspected that the Improvised Explosive Devise was set up on the road by Al-Shabaab terrorists operating in the area although they haven’t said they are the one.
